Sweet Spirit: The Ordinary Conversation That Changes Everything

Sweet Spirit: The Ordinary Conversation That Changes Everything

"Walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God." (Ephesians 5:2, NIV)

Walking in love rarely announces itself. It doesn't usually show up as some grand gesture. More often it looks like showing up, again and again, in the small unremarkable moments nobody thinks to write down.

A few years ago, our daughter and I sat on the couch watching the World Series. She was asking the kind of questions any kid asks. Why does the pitcher do that. What's a strike. Why is everyone standing up now. It wasn't a lesson. It wasn't planned. It was just a dad and his daughter, half watching the game, half talking through it.

Years later, she now works in baseball and uses her own sweet spirit in a very "fans first" way. She loves the sport in a way that shapes her whole life now. When I asked her when it started, when the interest actually took root, she didn't point to a big moment. She pointed back to that couch. That night. Those questions.

We had no idea at the time. It was just presence. Just attention. Just love, walked out in the most ordinary way possible, one answered question at a time.

That's what Sweet Spirit is about. Vanilla and cherry blossom, warm smoky wood and cedar, something that smells like a slow evening at home. This candle isn't for the big milestone moments. It's for the couch. The car ride. The sitting on the driveway just talking moments. The quiet ordinary hours where love is being poured out and nobody's counting it as significant, not yet.

You rarely know in the moment which conversation is the one that matters. Which question, answered patiently, becomes a whole life later. So walk in love anyway, in the small hours, even when it looks like nothing. Especially then.

You never know what a simple moment is quietly becoming.
